Electric Bell Kit is a classroom-ready practical resource for teaching electromagnetism and switching circuits in junior science and high school physics. Students use a pre-built electromagnet with the electric bell module to investigate how the electromagnet, armature, contact points, and spring work together in a make-and-break circuit to produce a continuous ringing action.
Students also carry out an investigation where they wind a copper coil around nails to build their own electromagnet and test its strength, reinforcing the link between current, coils, and magnetic fields. The kit also includes a vertical tube and ring magnets for a simple magnetic “levitation” experiment, where students place the ring magnets with like poles facing each other and observe the resulting repulsion.
Designed for small-group practicals and repeated use, the kit comes with student-friendly experiment manuals that guide learners step by step, support inquiry-based learning, and help students connect their hands-on observations to the underlying physics of electromagnets, energy changes from electrical to sound and motion, and everyday devices such as doorbells and alarms.
